Installing new spark plugs helps to assure your riding mower is running at peak performance and efficiency. Watch this video to learn how to change the spark plugs in a Cub Cadet riding lawn mower. Depending on your mower model, the instructions in this video tutorial may vary slightly from the directions in your operator's manual.
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Prepare your riding mower for maintenance. Place your mower on a flat, level surface. Turn the mower off and make sure the engine is cool. Remove the ignition key and engage the parking brake. This helps ensure the machine doesn't start accidentally and cause you or those around you harm.
Step 2: Unplug the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
Step 3: Using a 5/8” or 13/16” spark plug socket remove both old spark plugs.
Step 4: Properly gap your new spark plugs. Use a gap tool or feeler gauge to set the spark plug gap at .030”.
Step 5: Reinstall the new spark plugs. Use caution not to overtighten the spark plugs.
Step 6: Reconnect the spark plug wires.
