Performance Checklist

Your time is valuable and less maintenance means more flexibility, less time prepping and servicing and more freedom to kick back and relax.

Step 1
Charge your battery. Our lithium-ion batteries have to be shipped at 30% state of charge, so you'll need to charge up your ZT1 42E Ultima before using it.
Step 2
Pick your speed. Your unit will default to low speed precision mode with a max speed of 4 mph. This mode is ideal to start with when still adjusting to the experience of operating a battery-powered mower.
Step 3
Final checks. Be sure to check the tire pressure and set the deck to the desired level, and you're ready to go.

Charge up your world.

ZT1 42e Mower FAQs

Does the Ultima ZT1 42e have a removable battery?

As a non-serviceable part, the battery should not be removed from the mower unless performed by a Cub Cadet Authorized Service Center. Operating under normal conditions and care, our lithium-ion batteries will last for the lifetime of the product as defined in the operator’s manual. Cub Cadet offers a 3-year limited warranty that protects your mower and a 4-year battery warranty against manufacturing defects.

What is the drive system on the Ultima ZT1 42E?

The lithium-ion battery powered Ultima ZT1 42E uses an electric drive with two brushless motors that operates similarly to the hydrostatic transmissions our gas models use.

How fast is the Ultima ZT1 42E?

Operating on standard speed, the lithium-ion battery powered Ultima ZT1 42E travels at about 6 mph. There is also a low speed precision mode that operates at 4 mph. This mode is best when first learning to operate the model and is ideal for situations where the user will need maximum maneuverability and control.

Will the electric riders work on sloped terrain/hills?

Our lithium-ion powered mowers have the same restrictions as their gas counterparts when it comes to uneven terrain and hills. Please refer to each unit’s operator’s manual for specific guidelines.

Can I charge the battery from a regular 110V outlet?

Yes. Cub Cadet’s lithium-ion battery powered equipment can be charged using a standard 110V electrical outlet. The charger uses an electrical input of 720W, 6A at 120V. You should never connect the charger to an AC voltage that differs from 100-240V.

How does a bagger impact run time?

Run time will vary depending on the product. Using a bagger with our 60 Volt Max walk behind push mower does not impact run time. As for our riders, it’s recommended that you an Xtream blade on the ZT42E zero-turn and LT42E Enduro lawn tractor to get the best results and could impact run time. The CC30E may experience lower run times when bagging.

What is the run time of the battery?

The run time of the battery varies by mower:

  • Our ZT1 42E zero-turn mower has a run time of up to 2 acres on a single charge without power fade.
  • The Cub Cadet LT42E lawn tractor runs for up to 1.5 hours, or up to 2 acres, on a single charge without power fade.
  • The CC30E riding mower runs up to 1 hour, or up to 1 acre, on a single charge without power fade.
  • The 60 Volt Max walk behind push mower runs up to 50 minutes or ½ acre on a single charge without power fade.
