There’s no one size fits all speed for every job. Some require precision, others require maximum efficiency, and that’s why the Cub Cadet® ZT1 42E Ultima™ comes equipped with three different drive modes — low speed precision mode, standard drive mode, and ECO mode. These easily adjustable modes of operation allow you to adjust your speed and mower efficiency based on the task at hand.
Low Speed Precision Mode (H2)
When you first start up your unit, it will default to low speed precision mode with a max speed of 4 mph This mode is designed to enhance maneuverability and control. It is recommended that this mode is used for loading/unloading the zero-turn on a trailer, mowing on rough terrain, around a perimeter, and in tight spaces.
Whether you’re a first time zero-turn user or someone who has traditionally used gas products, we recommend starting out on low speed precision mode to get adjusted to the experience of operating your new battery-powered mower.
Standard Drive Mode (H2)
However, when you’re mowing for long periods without needing maximum maneuverability, the standard drive mode is ideal. This mode allows you to reach maximum speed with your Ultima, up to 6 mph, so you can quickly power through the task at hand.
ECO Mode (H2)
Finally, ECO mode reduces blade tip speed to conserve power and provide longer runtimes. It is ideal for mowing in lighter grass conditions (as opposed to lush, spring-like conditions). You’ll still be able to reach maximum speed, up to 6 mph, operating in this mode.
How Do I Change the Drive Modes? (H2)
You can easily adjust the speed of your ZT1 42E Ultima with the vehicle control module conveniently located for ease of use while operating the mower. This module also is where the push-button start (with magnetic key integration), the electric PTO, and the headlight on/off button are located.
